The king sends to Ekron
After Ahaziah fell through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and was injured, he sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, about whether he would recover.

The question interrupts the journey
The angel of the LORD sent Elijah to meet the messengers. The question placed before them was direct: was it because there was no God in Israel that they were going to inquire elsewhere?

Three captains
Ahaziah then sent captains with their men to Elijah. The first two encounters ended in fire from heaven. The third captain approached differently, pleading for the lives of himself and his men. Elijah then went with him and delivered the message to Ahaziah.
