After Ahaziah's death, Athaliah moved against the royal heirs of Judah. Jehosheba hid Joash and his nurse, and for six years the child remained hidden in the house of God while Athaliah ruled the land.

A son of David remained
Jehoiada brought out the king's son, placed the crown upon him, gave him the Testimony, and anointed him. The people proclaimed the king while Athaliah cried out against what was happening. The research reads the visible reign of Athaliah beside the hidden continuation of David's royal line.
The same house returns later
Joash later repaired the house of the LORD. After Jehoiada died, however, the story turned. Zechariah son of Jehoiada spoke against Judah and, at the king's command, was stoned in the court of the house of the LORD.
