Do not detach the prophet from the king
Elijah’s ministry belongs inside Ahab’s reign. Carmel and Horeb are not isolated prophet stories; they occur in the political world of Israel’s king.

The word moves beyond one scene
Ahab receives prophetic words, victories, warnings, and judgment. At Horeb, Hazael, Jehu, and Elisha enter the forward movement of the story. Later events show why those names mattered.
